Come visit ArtSpan at the 20th Street Block Party! Meet local artists, make hand-crafted projects, and learn about the San Francisco visual arts community. Featuring hands-on projects for youth, families and kids of all ages, including a 6-foot collaborative mural led by artist Joshua Coffy.
ArtSpan, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, builds community by connecting the public to visual arts in San Francisco. Through SF Open Studios, youth and adult education, and art-centric events, ArtSpan creates a platform for artists to thrive, fostering a Bay Area that values the arts.
Community Mural Project
Contribute to ArtSpan's third annual 20th Street Block Party Mural! Join ArtSpan Artist Joshua Coffy to reinterpret his original small-scale artwork as a large-scale collaborative image. Each participant gets to paint a mini-canvas that will become part of the 4' x 6' community mural. Bring out your creativity, work side-by-side with other block-partiers, and get your hands into some paint!
Superhero Capes and Masks!
What is your super power? It's time to show the world! Join ArtSpan as we teach 20th Street Block Party visitors to create custom-made superhero capes from recycled t-shirts! Decorate your cape with shapes, letters, designs and more. Create a paper mask to match, and you'll be ready to flex your super powers.
Workshop, SF’s DIY school will be there bringing you fun crafts for the DIYers of all ages. Stop by our booth for flower crowns, leather-working, henna tattoos, festival hair & hair chalk and more. Several of our awesome teachers will be out showing you how to make all sorts of fun things for low cost or free!

For the 20th Street Block Party, Southern Exposure presents two projects in the transformative spirit of Makeover, their fall exhibition opening September 11, 2015.

PROJECT with CHILDREN'S IMPROVEMENTS ON WORK BY MICHAEL ARCEGA, JONN HERSCHEND, JASON JÄGEL, ALICIA MCCARTHY, AND CATHERINE WAGNER
Five pre-selected children will be asked to improve upon five artworks from the studios of these respected local artists, who have selected work that they either never liked, used as a study for another piece, or have had hanging around too long.

Mutiny Radio.fm is a volunteer-run, community-based media organization that broadcasts online news, music, arts, culture, live shows, comedy, theater and opinion from San Francisco’s historic Mission District.
